I have a child with a man who was raised in a JW family, though he was not baptised. I've recently found out that the entire time he was with me he is a pathological liar living a double life and had a secret girlfriend, etc.
I met a friend last month and ironically she'd had a similar experience with her daughter's father. As we shared our stories we realized they both had come from JW backrounds. Is there any research on the mental health effects of growing up in this religion and whether there is any connection to lying in adulthood? Thank you Freeminds responds: Jerry Bergman, a former Jehovah's Witness, has published some wonderful articles on these very subjects.
