![]() Should Jesus be worshipped? Jesus being in receipt of worship is an absolute corner stone teaching and belief among Christians. Christians point to the many occasions in the Bible where Jesus Christ received - and accepted - worship. Jehovah's Witnesses, however, balk at this idea. A Jehovah's Witness who persists in believing that Jesus is worthy of our worship will be disfellowshipped. The purpose of this article is to, in brief, point the reader to two references, one from the Bible and one from the 'Reasoning' book*.
Reference 1. Hebrews 1:6 But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all God’s angels do obeisance to him.” If you have access to the Watch Tower Society's Large Print With References Bible, please note what it says in the footnote. For obeisance the footnote advises us "...or worship". So, in the pages of the Bible we learn that Jesus is to receive worship. Remember, however, that the Watch Tower Society disfellowships those who worship Jesus. Reference 2. 'Reasoning' book page 214, subheading; "Does the fact that worship is given to Jesus prove that he is God?" Notice that the Watch Tower Society here states that it is a fact that worship is given to Jesus. If you are an active Jehovah's Witness, where is Jesus placed in your worship? Does he factor in it at all? The angels are commanded to worship Jesus, the man born blind worshiped Jesus, Thomas worshiped Jesus and there are other instances that describe Jesus disciples worshipping him. Please ask yourself why the Watch Tower Society punishes Jehovah's Witnesses for worshipping Jesus. If the Bible proves that Jesus receives worship and that it is a command of God that Jesus is worshipped in heaven, who's purpose is being served by punishing those who worship Jesus? *published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society and used by Jehovah's Witnesses to more effectively defend their beliefs while undertaking their public ministry. written by mandy , June 13, 2009 Oliva, I can attest to say it is wise to stop studiying with them and study the bible on your own. I studied for 2 yrs and then felt pressured to get "baptised". i did and now am learning the real "truth" about this religion. if only i had done so before joining..now i have to face the elders and my husband (who is a witness).. this time in my life now is the most difficult. it is not easy to just leave..especially when you live with one. they tell you to "make the truth your own" however it never really is "your own"... mandy z. report abuse

written by Mark J Hunter , June 14, 2009 Olivia, Jesus said that he'd send, not an organization as the Witnesses claim, but the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would be a counselor of the same kind as Jesus, would lead us into truth and would testify about Jesus. Please, put down the Watchtower publications, pick up your Bible, say a simple prayer of request to your Father in heaven, ask for His Spirit to lead you into truth and teach you about Jesus, then read your Bible! May God bless you. Mark report abuse

written by Ginalin , June 17, 2009 Reading other Bible translations than the NWT really gives perspective on this. Also, just reading the NT without any WTS literature. It's so evident that Christ and his worship is the focus of the early Christians when you do that. Why would they use the Jewish name for God when they had become worshippers of Christ, and had equated Yaweh to Christ? Reading the first chapter of Hebrews in another translation, which I actually never had before;it's not discussed much as a whole by Jehovah's Witnesses, was quite a revelation for me. report abuse

written by Anna , June 18, 2009 Even in Phillpians 2:9-11 states that God his father elevated hin to the highest oint in the heavens, so that every knee in the heavens, and here on the earth should bend in praise and worship of him..footnote (vs 11 Neue welt Uebersetzung: herausbekennen, thatsomething should be openly given acknowlegement to, confessed to (gestehen)..openly show ones faith(...Glauben offen zeigen)..to show someone, or something out faith and necessity that one is convinced in such a matter....irgend etwas oeffentlich zugeben..to openly confess something Even jesus spoke of those that would openly confess of being in union with him, these ones would be declared before the angels and indeed his father, so, surely, to be in union with someone or something those wanting to be in union with the thing they love would declare it openly. Yet, the WBTS remove all worship of jehovah and his christby placing emphasis on themselves...and as christ said.I am the way, the truth and the life....nobody gets to the father except by means of me, and whoever the father draws...... report abuse
