Russell's instructions for his funeral: I desire to be buried in the plot of ground owned by our Society, in the Rosemont United Cemetery, and all the details of arrangements respecting the funeral service I leave in the care of my sister, Mrs. M. M. Land, and her daughters, Alice and May, or such of them as may survive me, with the assistance and advice and cooperation of the brethren, as they may request the same. Instead of an ordinary funeral discourse, I request that they arrange to have a number of the brethren, accustomed to public speaking, make a few remarks each, that the service be very simple and inexpensive and that it be conducted in the Bible House Chapel or any other place that may be considered equally appropriate or more so. (from Watchtower Reprints, 12/1/16) For those wishing to visit the gravesite: The area is the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. It is in the "Rosemont United Cemeteries at Allegheny, in the Bethel Family plot, according to his request." (Jehovah's Witnesses In The Divine Purpose, 1959, p. 62) The street is named Cemetery Lane. It is where BABCOCK BLVD and MCKNIGHT RD intersect. McNight Rd is a large freeway. There is a Babcock Blvd exit off of McKnight Road. Go West on Babcock Blvd. Cemetery Lane will be a left turn off of Babcock. The pyramid is BEFORE you get to the top of the hill on the right side. You can see it from the road. It is maybe 30 to 40 feet into the cemetery. Or, simpler directions for others: Take Interstate 179 to Exit 12, which is Cemetery Lane. Follow Cemetery Lane to the gravesite. United Cemeteries 226 Cemetery Ln. written by steve lenoder , July 12, 2009 Why is this pyramid memorial close by to Russell's grave site not said about in any of WTBTS books or mags? I have the watchtower library cd-rom 2008 and it does not say anything about this pyramid memorial at Russell's grave site. I wonder why? report abuse

written by Bel , July 31, 2009 There are many secrets the JW's hide about the past like using pyramid and crosses. The very old literature that Charles T. Russell wrote are hidden away in the Watchtowers library an only a few chosen are allowed to enter this library. You can't ask an elder for he will call you an apostate, but there are many resources in the internet you can find for answers. http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/Cults/jw.htm or http://www.cftf.com/booklets/jwslisten/prophecies.htm report abuse

written by Retardo Idiot , October 26, 2009 None of Jehovah's Witnesses care what Russell did and they don't teach any of his teachings. Russell is dead and so are his ideas. The only thing that matters is what does the bible say. Jehovah's Witnesses have changed many of their ideas and progressed to where they stand today. JWs do not defend Russell's teachings but acknowledge that he and others did not have as complete an understanding as JWs do now. Russell is not considered to be prophet whose word should change what the bible teaches. That would be like the Catholics and Baptist who have taken the divine name Jehovah out of the Bible. report abuse

written by Chris Corbett , October 31, 2009 In response to Retardo Idiot, in the August 15, 2009 Watchtower the JW's actually do embrace and defend Russell (albeit trying to whitewash his record by selective citation). And Russell and his adherents are on record as claiming him and his organization to be predictive prophets. report abuse

written by Richard Morley , November 10, 2009 yer we understand more now what the Bible teaches thanks to open minded research:::::::::::::::::::::::::::: The most interesting question is this since God wrote the Bible or inspired men to write it:::: Why would God in all his infinite wisdom allow imperfect humans all are sinners and can be corrupted of course as you well know to interprete it::::: Why are people interpreting it:::::::::::::::::: surely God would interprete it why are people interpreting why write something that needs interpreting in the first place why not just have something plane and clear::::::::: in the first place why all the confusion over the interpretations think about it report abuse

written by Brian , November 14, 2009 It is funny seeing this picture because I am researching this religion to get my mother out of it. The WBTS has a pisture of the gavestone in the book "proclaimers of god's kingdom" pg. 64 but it doesn't show the pyramid. Something to note that might help people with family trapped in the same dilusion as my mother: The WBTS makes it known that Jesus came to inspect the organization in 1918 (invisibly....LOL) and found it to be clean. Finding what they taught in 1918 is KEY to deprogramming a JW. They will say that "the light gets brighter!" Thinking people can easily refute this claim, as it is true that the same can be said of all religions. report abuse

written by Lilian Giles , November 18, 2009 Is'nt it funny how people latch on to something as trivial as an old piece of stone? So Charles Russell made mistakes but since that time Jehovah's Witnesses have continually returned to the bible and corrected their mistakes unlike the established churches that are still teaching doctrines that are thousands of years old and are not in harmony with the bible. Brian why would you want to take your Mum away from something that obviously means a lot to her. Granted Jehovah's Witnesses are imperfect people but they do care about people so you know that your Mum would always be loved. As to your remark that all religions would say that the light gets brighter well then what are they doing about it. You may think that associating with the witnesses will not do your Mum any good but it certainly won't do her any harm. We go to peoples houses not intimidate but to give them a hope for the future, is that so bad? report abuse
